Foreign Travel Vaccinations
Planning for trips can be stressful enough. Let the Department assist with your foreign travel needs by reviewing itineraries, health histories and making recommendations for vaccines or other medications based on the destination.
Medications
Medical staff may recommend anti-diarrhea medication and provide education on avoiding foodborne illness to prevent gastrointestinal disorders. If traveling to one of the many tropical or subtropical countries, a prescription for anti-malarial medication, education and recommendations on avoiding animal or insect-borne illnesses will be provided.
Vaccinations
The Department offers the following required or recommended foreign travel vaccines:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Influenza (seasonal flu)
- Japanese Encephalitis
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Meningococcal
- Pneumococcal conjugate (PCV13)
- Polio (IP)
- Rabies
- Tetanus, Diptheria (Td)
- Tetanus, Diptheria, Acellular Pertussis (Tdap)
- Typhoid Fever
- Cholera
- Varicella (chickenpox)

Call 260.449.7504 to schedule a visit to our foreign travel clinic as soon as travel plans are confirmed. Appointments should be made at least 4-6 weeks before the departure date. Children younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Staff can provide current fees for services over the phone.
Be sure to bring the following with you to your appointment:
- Current immunization record
- Completed Travel Clinic Intake Form
- Travel itinerary
Cash or credit/debit card for payment (no personal checks accepted)

The costs vary depending on the services provided or vaccinations given. Approximate costs are given when appointments are made.
